History
In 1988 CAN - Computer Algebra Netherlands - was founded with financial support from the department of Education
and Sciences. The objective of this foundation was to stimulate the use of computer algebra, ie. performing exact
calculations by means of the computer. Since then computer algebra has rapidly gained ground and has been adopted
on a worldwide scale, both by universities and the business community. Research institutes and research laboratories
all depend heavily on the power of computer algebra.
In 1995 CAN foundation decided to continue its commercial activities in a separate, independent company, CANdiensten.
Since May 1999 CANdiensten has been located in a spacious office in the west of Amsterdam.
